Hi. Read this and have a couple of thoughts.
1. Check whether your man pages are located in the specified location.
2. You have chosen to have both LIBDIR and BINDIR under your home directory.
Did you su when you ran make? If not, you won't have permission to write
files under /usr/...

Cheers,

Subject: [Dock-fans] dms installation

Hi all,

Ran into trouble with dms on linux.

Uncompressed the dms.shar file using

sh < dms.shar

made the following changes to GNUmakefile

LIBDIR  = home/ramdas/DOCK

BINDIR  = home/ramdas/DOCK/dms

Typed make install

got the following error

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

rm -f /usr/local/man/man1/dms.1
cp dms.1 /usr/local/man/man1
cp: cannot create regular file `/usr/local/man/man1/dms.1': Permission
denied
make: *** [maninstall] Error 1

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do I need to make any changes to

MANDIR  = /usr/local/man/man1

Actually created the subdirectories man in /home/ramdas/DOCK and man1 in
man,
but the error persisted.

There is a binary dms file but if try to use it, get the following error ->

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

execl: No such file or directory
server died
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think someone else got this execl error, but didn't see any reply
addressing
that.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Ramdas.
